Why Cleaning Your Spa Filters Is So Important
You heard it from us! Cleaning your spa filters is the best thing you can do to properly maintain your hot tub. When people ask us questions about dirty or smelly water, our first question back to them is, “How long has it been since you’ve cleaned your filters?”
So here it is! How to properly maintain your spa filters…
How often do I clean them?
It’s best to deep clean your spa filters every 30 days. With that being said, it’s also important to rinse them off every two weeks. This is done by simply removing the filters from the spa and rinsing them off with a hose or faucet.
How do I deep clean my spa filters?
Use a filter cleaner such as this one. Soak the filters in water for one hour. Once one hour is up, rinse them off very well with a high-pressure hose. Once you’ve completely rinsed the filters, throw them on the top shelf of a dish washer with no detergent to finish the cleaning process.
*If you don’t rinse the filters thoroughly, the filter will bubble excessively in the dishwasher.
Extra tips just for you!
- Some people prefer to have two sets of filters, so they can wash the dirty ones at their leisure.
- Dirty filters can cause a lot of harm to the hot tub especially during the winter months for places in colder environments. Bad filters are the number one reason that hot tubs freeze up in the winter!
- Keep up on clean filters to reduce service fees!
